Summary: PCS-Counseling is searching for a growth oriented, experienced, self-directed mental health professional with strong leadership skills and experience to join our team as Director of Clinical Services and Direct Services Provider. We are searching for a collaborator in co-creating our long-term vision for PCS-Counseling and assisting us in transforming our counseling center into the number one choice for human development in our area. The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit and desire to create a treatment setting focused on personal connection with clients and staff supported by flexible structure, while continuing to carry a private practice caseload to positively impact the lives of their clients.


Who We Are: PCS-Counseling is a thriving group private practice in Northville, MI that stands out in the area for its unique approach to helping clients address their mental health concerns and build fulfilling lives. Founded in 1977 by Dr. John Mlinarcik, PhD, LMSW, PCS-Counseling works to serve the unique mental health needs of the surrounding area by providing a warm, supportive environment and a multi-disciplinary team of evidence based, experienced mental health experts spanning a variety of backgrounds, treatment approaches, and experiences (spanning 7 decades).

One of the hallmarks in our team of dynamic mental health professionals is their focus on their own personal growth as well as the growth of our clients. We focus on collaborative care, and seeking support and feedback in delivering the best possible treatment to our clients. During intake, we work to match new clients with the best therapist on staff for their presenting issue. We service children, adolescents, adults, and seniors, as well as couples, families, and groups. Specialties on staff include depression, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, grief, parenting, families, couples counseling, and many more areas. We accept major insurance providers (and continue to panel for more), as well as offering cash pay and sliding scale fees, as well as free initial sessions conducted by our Intake Specialists.

Coordinates with: Director of Development, Matthew Swartz, MSSW, LMSW



-Completed masters or doctoral level course work to attain a PhD, PsyD, or MSW degree from an accredited university.

-Licensed as a PhD, PsyD, or LMSW to provide clinical services in Michigan

-4+ years’ experience providing supervision and management in a clinical setting, including community mental health, hospital, agency, or private practice to licensed mental health practitioners

-5-10+ years’ experience delivering direct mental health therapy services to caseload of clients

-Specialization and expertise in one or more areas of clinical practice (specific mental health diagnosis or evidence based practice, ideally both)

-Knowledge and experience with legal requirements for delivering mental health services in Michigan, including Michigan Mental Health Code and Health Code

-Knowledge of clinical policies and procedures for delivery of mental health services in Michigan

-Knowledge and experience in Human Resources

-Experience with use of Electronic Medical Records (ideally TherapyNotes)

-Expert interpersonal skills for facilitating interoffice relationships between leadership, clinicians, and administrative staff



-Coordinate all clinical services delivered through PCS-Counseling

-Build and deliver services to their own private practice caseload based on interest and clinical specialties

-Supervise clinicians in delivery of services through weekly supervision for newer clinicians, and supervision as needed for seasoned clinicians (on a case by case basis)

-Supervise and audit (as needed) clinician charts via TherapyNotes (EMR)

-conduct weekly Clinical Staff Meeting, including case conference and administrative needs

-Coordinate and maintain phone screening system for new client referrals: coordinate with administrative staff taking initial phone calls and clinicians conducting intake appointments to match clients with ideal clinicians and ensure client conversion and long-term retention

-Facilitate Intake Tracking program, including Intake Specialists, Free Initial Session, and regular (billed) intake services to ensure long-term client retention

-Coordinate contracts with Health Insurance companies (Currently: BCBS, BCN, Aetna), assist clinicians in following all insurance contract stipulations, expand provider offerings through additional paneling, and assist clinicians in paneling for insurance providers as needed

-Implement policies and procedures, as well as assisting in revising and developing new policies and procedures to improve delivery of services

-Ensure compliance with state and federal legal regulations via policies and procedures, licensure, HIPAA

-Assist clinicians in addressing emergent situations, and communicate with leadership as necessary

-Coordinate with administrative staff, including Director of Operations

-Create and implement strategic, long-term vision for the clinic with Dr. John Mlinarcik and Matthew Swartz

-Assist Matthew Swartz in developing and maintaining community partnerships and referral relationships

-Assist Matthew Swartz in helping clinicians to coordinate self-led marketing efforts (BNI, Psychology Today, relationship networking, etc.)
