Summary: PCS-Counseling is searching for a growth oriented, experienced, self-directed mental health professional with strong communication skills and experience to join our team as a Mental Health Therapist – Child & Adolescent Specialist. We are searching for an individual who specializes in working with children and adolescents, as well as their families. The ideal candidate will have a passion for connecting authentically with children and adolescents, assisting them in addressing the challenges of growing up and addressing their mental health issues, while helping to educate their parents and caregivers on how to address their child’s mental health and developmental challenges with love and evidence-based solutions.

Founded in 1977 by Dr. John Mlinarcik, PhD, LMSW, PCS-Counseling works to serve the unique mental health needs of the surrounding area by providing a warm, supportive environment and a multi-disciplinary team of evidence based, experienced mental health experts spanning a variety of backgrounds, treatment approaches, and experiences (spanning 7 decades).

One of the hallmarks in our team of dynamic mental health professionals is their focus on their own personal growth as well as the growth of our clients. We focus on collaborative care, and seeking support and feedback in delivering the best possible treatment to our clients. During intake, we work to match new clients with the best therapist on staff for their presenting issue. We service children, adolescents, adults, and seniors, as well as couples, families, and groups. Specialties on staff include depression, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, grief, parenting, families, couples counseling, and many more areas. We accept major insurance providers (and continue to panel for more), as well as offering cash pay and sliding scale fees, as well as free initial sessions conducted by our Intake Specialists.


Reports to: Assistant Director of Clinical Services, Matthew Swartz, MSSW, LMSW


Compensation: Fee for service/split fee based on client billing



-Completed masters or doctoral level course work to attain a mental health degree from an accredited university.

-Fully Licensed as a LMSW, LPC, LP (PhD or PsyD), or LLP (MA or MS) to provide clinical services in Michigan as a Counselor, Therapist, or Psychologist

-4+ years’ experience delivering direct mental health therapy services either in community mental health, medical, agency, or private practice settings

-Specialization and expertise in one or more areas of clinical practice (specific mental health diagnosis or evidence-based practice, ideally both)

-Experience with clinical intervention for anxiety, depression, communication and behavioral issues. Ideally experienced in working with ADHD. Experience working with grief a large plus.

-Experience with use of Electronic Medical Records (ideally TherapyNotes)

-Experience providing therapy to cash pay and insurance-based clients

-Expert interpersonal skills for facilitating interoffice relationships between fellow clinicians and administrative staff



-Deliver therapeutic services to caseload of clients built around Child & Adolescent specialty

-Build caseload through a combination of incoming referrals and self-directed marketing and networking efforts within the community and online (BNI, Psychology Today, etc.)

-Utilize TherapyNotes (EMR) for clinical charting and coordination of care

-Attend weekly supervision with Assistant Clinical Director to assist in improving delivery of therapy services, clinical charting, building caseload and improving networking and marketing skills, and addressing personal growth and self-care

-Attend weekly Clinical Staff Meetings, connecting with PCS-Counseling team family

-Learn and assist in phone screening process to grow caseload and help incoming referrals to be matched with the ideal therapist for their presenting problems

-Deliver free initial sessions and paid intake sessions, ensuring the long-term retention of referrals and ideal match for clinical needs of the client and clinical strengths of the therapist

-Work to panel for major insurance companies (BCBS, BCN, Aetna) with assistance from PCS-Counseling, comply with all insurance contract requirements for delivery of services

-Comply with all PCS-Counseling policies and procedures

-Comply with state and federal legal regulations via policies and procedures, licensure, HIPAA

-Engage Assistant Clinical Director in addressing emergent situations, and communicate with leadership as necessary

-Coordinate with administrative staff, including office manager

-As time goes on, work to demonstrate personal strengths and find leadership opportunities within clinic and long term vision of PCS-Counseling
